Chemical Peels for Sun Damage, Fine Lines, and Acne
Day in and day out, our skin takes a lot of abuse from the sun and environmental pollutants. Add to that the effects of aging and it’s no wonder that skin revitalization through chemical peels are so popular. There are different types of chemical peels which produce different results, but all are similar in this respect: a chemical solution is applied to remove the damaged outer layers of skin so that new, regenerated skin replaces the old. As a rule, the deeper the peel, the more profound the results and the longer recovery time. After evaluation the condition of your skin and the severity of discoloration and wrinkling, a determination can be made as to which type of chemical peel is best for you. Most peels can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs. A combination of chemicals for your peel procedure may be used, in effect, tailoring the treatment specifically to your skin type and need.
Dr. K’s Chemical Peel is Med Cures most popular chemical Peel. With the Dr. K’s chemical peel we combine three key ingredients to the skin to get a the same effect as a deep chemical Peel. We use Tricholoracetic acid (TCA), Salycilic Acid, and Retinoic acid (retin-a) in combination to the face and/or chest area. The results of this peel are exceptional. The Dr. K’s Chemical Peel is an excellent peel for acne sufferers.
We recommend that you get a get a chemical peel as often as monthly and for optimal results follow-up your chemical peel with a HydraFacial or Microdermabrasion from Med Cure.
Light Chemical Peels: Alphahydroxy acids include glycolic, lactic or fruit acids and are mild chemical solutions that lightly peel skin, often resulting in brighter looking, smoother skin. These “lunch hour” peels are often done repeatedly over time and can even out fine wrinkling, uneven pigmentation and smooth out rough, dry skin or a mild acne problem.
Medium Chemical Peels: Thrichloroacetic (TCA) acid is used when a medium depth peel is indicated for skin that has moderate sun damage, fine lines and weathered skin. TCA peels can correct pigment problems and superficial blemishes.
Deep Chemical Peels: Phenol acid is the strongest of the chemical solutions and causes a deep peel. A phenol peel is a drastic, one-time procedure that offers dramatic, long-lasting results. Individuals with extensive wrinkling, brown spots, mild scarring or with pre-cancerous growths could be a candidate for this procedure. The phenol peel results in permanently lighter skin and must be protected by sun block at all times.
