What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a facial volumizer that will give you a fuller, more youthful appearance. It also improves sunken cheeks and hollow eyes. Used in Europe since 1999, Sculptra® is frequently called “the liquid facelift.”
How does Scuptra® work?
Sculptra® is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It improves appearance by providing a gradual increase in skin thickness.
Do I need a skin test prior to treatment?
No skin testing is required prior to use.
Are the results from Sculptra® immediate?
No. After your first treatment, it may appear that Sculptra® worked immediately because of swelling from the injection and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra® takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin.
How many treatments are required?
We will recommend the appropriate amount of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra® you will need at each session.
How long do treatment results last?
Sculptra® lasts for up to 2 years.
Do injections of Sculptra® hurt?
As with any injection, there may be some discomfort. Lidocaine, an anesthetic, is added to Sculptra®. A topical anesthetic may also be used. Sculptra® is injected in small amounts using a fine needle.
What can I expect after treatment?
Redness, swelling or bruising may occur in the treatment area. Within the first 24 hours after treatment, an ice pack should be applied several times a day to reduce swelling and bruising. For 5 days you should massage the treated areas several times a day to evenly distribute the product in the skin.
Where should I go for Sculptra®?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required to achieve optimum results should administer Sculptra®.
Can Scuptra® be combined with other types of treatments?
Absolutely! Many patients are happy with the results obtained by combining Sculptra® with an immediate-acting dermal filler like Restylane® or Juvederm™ as well as with Botox®, a purified protein that reduces lines between the brows. A monthly HydraFacial or Microdermabrasion treatment will also help your skin look healthy and radiant.
Sculptra™ is injected into the skin for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus. Sculptra™ is biocompatible and biodegradable.
The results from Sculptra™ are not immediate. Sculptra™ provides a gradual increase in skin tightness. Dr. Keshwani will evaluate you again in two to three weeks to decide if additional injections are needed.
